Company Filings

After incorporating a limited company, as the company director, you have the responsibility to ensure your company meets its deadlines, particularly for the confirmation statement and annual accounts.

If you formed your company with HopeTex, we can assist you in staying on top of these crucial deadlines. Here’s how we can help:

To activate our email notifications and stay informed about your confirmation statement and annual account deadlines, follow these steps:

  1. Visit HopeTex.
  2. Click on ‘Client Login’ located in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Enter your username and password to log in.
  4. Select ‘My Details’ from the menu.
  5. Scroll down to the ‘Notifications’ section at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Check the boxes next to ‘Confirmation Statement’ and ‘Accounts’.
  7. Click on ‘Update Details’ to save your preferences.

Once activated, you will receive emails to your ‘Primary’ email address as your deadlines approach and once they have passed. You can review and update your primary email address anytime in the ‘My Details’ section of your account.

These notifications are a valuable tool to help you avoid missing deadlines and incurring penalties.

The confirmation statement is a crucial annual filing requirement with Companies House. Its purpose is to verify and confirm that the information held by Companies House about your limited company is accurate and up to date.

Failing to submit your confirmation statement by the due date is a serious matter, constituting a criminal offence under the Companies Act 2006. Consequences may include the closure of your company and fines of up to £5,000 for company officers.

Late submission of your confirmation statement? Here’s what you should do:

Annual accounts are another essential annual filing obligation, required by both Companies House and HMRC. Your first set of annual accounts is due within 21 months of your company’s incorporation. These accounts provide financial details about your company to regulatory bodies.

Similar to the confirmation statement, failing to meet the annual accounts deadline is a criminal offence. Penalties are imposed depending on how late the accounts are filed. Failure to file at all can lead to your company being closed down and potential prosecution.

It’s crucial to note that whether your company is actively trading or not, you are still required to submit a confirmation statement and annual accounts. Non-trading companies may file abbreviated annual accounts, known as dormant company accounts.

These filings are essential to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and avoid severe penalties and legal repercussions.

Once we’ve informed you of your deadlines, we can also handle the preparation and submission of your confirmation statement and dormant company accounts. For trading companies, we advise consulting with an accountant for the preparation of accounts.
